However, upon check-in at the hotel, I was informed that there is a fee for using resort of $20 per night per room. “A fee for using the hotel amenities?” I asked. I was informed that the hotel has implemented a resort fee but not to worry as it included many services that would normally have additional charges. This is somewhat deceptive, especially in the case of making a hotel room reservation on non-refundable sites like Priceline and Hotwire. Should these fees not be disclosed before you buy?

Technically, they are disclosed. They are in the fine print most of the time and consumers need to be aware of them. There is not too much consumers can do about them. Read the fine print when you are making a reservation and when you receive your reservation confirmation via email.
